Well… Maybe not the whole universe but certainly the Breckenridge Ski Area. The Peak 8 Base Area is pulsing with the vitality of winter and excitement of many winter adventures. Framed by the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 with its superior amenities and One Ski Hill Place, Peak 8 is the starting and ending point for many winter adventures.
It all started back in 1961 with the opening of “Lift 1” on Peak 8 and since then Peak has grown steadily and surely into the internationally recognized area it is. Today Peak 8 is the location of the new 6 person Colorado Super Chair which is capable of moving up to 3,600 people an hour up to the top of the mountain. This has done wonders at easing congestion especially during the early season. In addition to the Colorado SuperChair there is also the Rocky Mountain Super Chair and Chair 5 for beginners and access to the terrain parks.
Peak 8 is home to one of the premiere terrain parks in the world, the Freeway. The Freeway is a mind boggling mix of rails and features, huge tabletop jumps and one of the largest halfpipes in the world. The Freeway hosts the Breck Pro team as well as numerous international freeskiing and snowboarding superstars.
Each year in December one of the top extreme competitions in the country, the Dew Tour comes to Breckenridge. The Dew tour is an extreme snow sports competition that features skiing and snowboarding half pipe and slopestyle competitions. Superstars such as Shaun White, Bobby Brown and the world’s best come each year to throw amazing tricks and huge air.
Peak 8 is also the central access point and the geographic center of the Breckenridge ski area. Peak 8 overall is comprised of green and blue groomed runs, expert mogul runs and high alpine double black diamond bowl skiing including the Lake Chutes with an incline of up to 55 degrees! Peak 8 is in the middle of the ski resort which makes access to Breckenridge’s other 4 peaks easy and fast. With the Peak 8 SuperConnector chairlift getting back from Peaks 9 and 10 is easy.
The Peak 8 base area also offers winter activities other than skiing including the Gold Runner coaster, a mountain rollercoaster that operates all winter, the Ten Mile Zip Line which is a thee part zip line that starts up near the top of Peak 8, The T-Bar and cafeteria offer food and drinks and with the addition of Grand Colorado there will be more dining options and a new ski shop as well as other skier services.
Owning at the Grand Colorado on Peak 8 will put you right in the center of the best part of Breckenridge. With unparalleled access to the slopes and a short gondola ride to town, Peak 8 is the center of the “Breckenridge Universe.”
